NSN celebrates successes of sister social initiative My Pickle
Glasgow, June 26 2023
NSN celebrates the successes of public-facing sister initiative My Pickle (from the phrase ‘in a pickle’) as focus moves to increase impact through partnerships.
Five years ago, National Support Network (‘NSN’) Co-Founder and CEO, Cat Divers, faced difficulties when facing life challenges. It was this personal experience which led her to help others facing similar struggles.

As Cat explains “I set out to solve a problem I had experience of. 11.8 million people struggle to find support and 2 in 5 will delay or give up looking. There was no single, one-stop gateway covering all of life’s challenges for everyone right across the UK.”

That was where My Pickle came in. My Pickle focused on providing essential information on national services to the general public.

Since 2019, hundreds of people across the UK have volunteered their time and assistance to carefully co-create and build the support directory, unrivalled in terms of scope, quality and ease-of-use.

It provides an opportunity for users to discover support and overcome hurdles such as:
– The sheer variety of personal problems that can arise
– The diversity of individual circumstances, needs and preferences
– The vast and continually shifting support services landscape

The My Pickle site directly connected over 8,500 people to support in less than three years. Efforts were recognised in awards including NatWest’s SE100, the UK Social Entrepreneur Index, and the Great British Entrepreneur Awards.

Now, the closure of My Pickle brings a new opportunity to scale impact and help connect more people to support. NSN shares the same not-for-profit model and vision, realised through partnership channels.

The directory provides a reliable, fast, and consistent way to direct users in need to the right support channels and a new, innovative and inclusive way for organisations to support their customers, colleagues and wider communities.

Through a custom link to a co-branded website, organisations can provide audiences with a one-stop gateway to trusted support services – a helping hand when it’s needed most.

Cat says: “Where we are now is testament to everyone’s support and assistance so far. I am incredibly grateful for that, thank you. I am excited to see us multiply our impact to help many more people now with NSN.”

“There was no single, one-stop gateway covering all of life’s challenges for everyone right across the UK. That’s what we created.”
