Who we are

Welcome to National Support Network CIC (“NSN”, “we”, “our”, “us”). We are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (“CIC“) that provides tools to aid the signposting activities of other organisations to UK audiences. Our website address is: https://nsn.org.uk/

Environmental Commitment

At NSN, we are committed to promoting environmental sustainability across all areas of our operations, with a particular focus on digital practices, energy usage, and corporate responsibility.

Digital Sustainability

We actively support digital sustainability by minimising data storage requirements and encouraging cloud-based solutions. By reducing email and document attachments and managing the lifecycle of digital assets, we aim to lower our overall digital footprint.

Carbon-Neutral Servers

Our server operations aim to minimise electricity usage and environmental impact. We ensure that 100% of the energy our servers consume is matched by renewable energy equivalents, achieved through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). This ensures that our server operations are effectively carbon neutral.

Climate Change Support

We are committed to supporting individuals concerned about climate change. Our services signposts end users to resources, including Carbon Footprint Calculators and advice for managing climate change anxiety.

Remote-First Work Culture

As a fully remote company, we reduce the environmental impact associated with traditional office spaces. However, we encourage eco-friendly practices, including:

  • Cycling to Meetings: Employees are encouraged to cycle or use other low-emission modes of transport when attending meetings.
  • Company Vehicles: Where practical, company cars are electric, and in cases where electric vehicles are not feasible, hybrid cars are used.

Office Equipment & Waste Management

All office and IT equipment must meet the highest environmental standards, prioritising energy efficiency and sustainability.
We maintain a paperless office wherever possible.
All waste produced by the company is recycled where applicable, ensuring responsible waste management practices.

Travel Policy

To reduce our carbon footprint, business flights are not permitted unless explicitly authorised by the CEO.

Promoting Environmental Awareness

We promote responsible attitudes towards the environment among our employees, suppliers, and customers. Through regular communication and training, we encourage everyone to contribute to our sustainability goals.

Continual Improvement

We continually review and improve our business processes to minimise environmental impacts, aiming for ongoing enhancement of our environmental performance.

Employee Responsibility

All employees are required to comply with this Environmental Policy and supporting procedures. They are encouraged to raise any environmental concerns with management to help us continually refine our practices.

Policy Communication and Review

This policy is communicated to all employees and is available to other interested parties through our website. We review this policy regularly to ensure its ongoing relevance and effectiveness in meeting our environmental goals.
